India's Telangana state has allowed beer prices to be increased from Tuesday and has directed that all existing stock to be sold at the revised rates, according to a government order. Heineken's Indian unit United Breweries had last month halted supply briefly over pricing and non-payment of dues by the state government.

Telangana government has issued orders enhancing the prices of beer in the State from Tuesday (February 11, 2025) by 15 per cent.

With the hike, a 650ml bottle of beer is now expected to cost between ₹170 and ₹180, depending on the brand, making Telangana one of the most expensive states for beer consumption in South India.

The Telangana state has approved rise in beer prices effective from today, February 11. This decision follows United Breweries' temporary halt in supply due to pricing issues and unpaid dues by the state government.

The decision was made due to the non-revision of the company's beer prices since 2019-20 leading to significant losses in the state, UBL stated in a regulatory filing.

While beer companies such as United Breweries Limited demanded a 33% hike, Telangana Beverages Corporation Limited has opted for a 15% increase.
