Anglo American to get $600mn dividend boost ahead of demerger of platinum arm
Anglo American Platinum is to pay its parent a $600mn dividend ahead of its planned demerger in June, the company announced on Monday. Amplats, as the world’s largest platinum company is known, is to pay out $900mn from its retained cash to shareholders in total with most going to Anglo American, which has a 67 per cent stake.

Ahead of the separation, Anglo American Platinum announced a final dividend for 2024 alongside an additional cash dividend of R17 billion (approximately $0.9 billion). These payments will be distributed to existing shareholders, including Anglo American, which holds a 67% stake in the unit.
