A Detroit mom was detained by cops after two of her children apparently froze to death in a minivan that broke down in a downtown casino car park. The kids, aged 2 and 9, were pronounced dead at the Children's Hospital of Michigan after their mother noticed they weren't breathing around noon Monday (February 10).

Two young children died of hypothermia Monday while inside a van parked at the Detroit Hollywood Casino parking lot despite their mother's efforts to obtain help from city services for homeless families.

The deaths remain under investigation, though authorities believe the 2-year-old and 9-year-old froze to death early Monday.
