With a length of 428 megaparsecs, or around 1.39 billion light-years, the superstructure is the biggest ever spotted.

It is not surprising that there are regions that are more densely populated by galaxies, and regions that are less populated. The whole universe is organized in the so-called cosmic web, where galaxies and clusters are organized in strands and nodes, with mostly empty space in between. Those regions are called the voids.

In fact, the superstructure is estimated to hold an almost inconceivable 200 quadrillion (that's 200 followed by 15 zeros) times the mass of the sun and is more than 1.3 billion light-years long, larger than the Milky Way.
