Quiet start to the week in Maine before more snow later this week
PORTLAND (WGME )--- Quiet weather is expected in Maine through mid-week. Another winter storm then looks likely on Thursday, with a bigger storm possible for the weekend. Monday will be quiet and sunny. Highs will be in the upper 20s. Cold temps are expected Monday night with widespread below 0 temps to start the day on Tuesday.

The American GFS model, however, shows more snow, possibly significant, with some mixing at the coastline later in the day. We try to take it one storm at a time, but an early look at the weekend event suggests it could be more substantial.
Another storm headed for Maine Thursday as active weather pattern continues
We'll focus on Thursday's storm first. It's the follow up to a storm Wednesday that passes very far to our south. This low comes out of the Rocky Mountains and treks across the central U.S. before moving northeast towards us here in Maine.
On to the next storm: Weekend snowstorm to bring more messy travel to Maine
4-8" of snow is expected in southern Maine including the Portland area. There will be a steep drop-off in snowfall into central Maine. It looks like a minor event there with 2-4". Stay tuned, there is plenty of time for totals to shift a bit.
