Investigators have recovered most of the airplane and helicopter from the Potomac River, but continued searching for objects on the river floor.

On Thursday, crews removed all large major components of the American Airlines jet and military Black Hawk helicopter, which collided in a deadly incident near Reagan National Airport last week.

The U.S. Army helicopter that collided with an passenger jet near Washington, D.C., had an advanced surveillance system turned off.

While on Capitol Hill on Thursday, the National Transportation Safety Board chair gave a brief update on the investigation into last week's deadly midair collision near Washington, D.C. CBS News senior transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave has more on the recovery efforts.
