Utah County added the most people, with 21,853 new residents. That’s been the pattern for the past five years. The institute reported Utah County saw 43% of the state’s population growth in the 2024 estimates. Salt Lake County came in second with 12,113 new residents and 57% of its population growth was due to natural increase.

State growth slowed down some, but its population still surpassed 3.5 million in 2024, according to a new state population report.

Utah County has seen the biggest population increase in the state over one year, according to the Kem C Gardner Policy Institute.

Utah's Black population grew by 89% from 2010 to 2023, one of the biggest jumps in the nation. But the overall count is still one of the smallest among the 50 U.S. states.

No longer the state with the highest birth rates in the U.S., Utah's population continues to grow — but slowly.
