Like the World Endurance Championship, the IMSA SportsCar Championship features two types of cars – Prototype and GT. They are split into four classes: Grand Touring Prototype (GTP), Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2), GT Daytona Pro (GTD Pro) and GT Daytona (GTD).

The 24 Hours of Daytona, a prestigious season opener for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, will celebrate its 63rd season January 25-26 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

GTD PRO, which debuted in 2022, include race cars built to FIA GT3 technical regulations and offers the opportunity for factory teams and driver lineups to compete in the class. Manufacturers competing in this class in 2023 include Aston Martin, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.

Once attrition hit other entries in the top prototype class, the Porsches ran first and second for large portions of the race. It was the No. 7 full-time IMSA entry that won, making it back-to-back victories for that car despite a different driver lineup.
