2015年12月18日 · NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) recently captured a unique view of Earth from the spacecraft’s vantage point in orbit around the moon. “The image is simply stunning,” said Noah Petro, Deputy Project Scientist for LRO at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Designed to scope out the lunar surface for potential landing sites, Lunar Orbiter 1 gave us the first view of Earth from the vicinity of the Moon.

2008年3月23日 · On Aug. 23, 1966, the world received its first view of Earth taken by a spacecraft from the vicinity of the Moon. The photo was transmitted to Earth by the Lunar Orbiter I and received at the NASA tracking station at Robledo De Chavela near Madrid, Spain.

The heavily cratered lunar far side includes the dark basalt of Mare Moscoviense (top left) and Tsiolkovskiy crater (far left) and the darkened expanse of the ancient South Pole-Aitken basin (bottom).

2017年10月5日 · This view of the rising Earth greeted the Apollo 8 astronauts as they came from behind the moon after the lunar orbit insertion burn. Earth is about five degrees above the horizon in the photo. The unnamed surface features in the foreground are near the eastern limb of the moon as viewed from Earth.

From the Moon, Earth is an ideal reference point to calibrate the cameras. The Narrow Angle Cameras—the cameras designed to capture the most detailed images of the Moon—took this image during calibration.
