Balcony House, a medium size cliff dwelling at Mesa Verde National Park, has 40 rooms. This archeological site illustrates how room and passageway construction evolved through time.

A tour of Balcony House is one of the most adventurous in the park and not for the faint-of-heart. You will scale the face of a cliff via several tall ladders, squeeze your way through a narrow tunnel on your hands and knees, and explore some of the same passages used over 800 years ago!

Incredible intro to the National Park. Scheduled Ranger led, not assisted,tour in the morning. Recommend AM as it is East facing and the sunlight on the dwelllings helped illuminate the entire area. Fascinating and explorative tour of an 800 year old strucure and community.

Highlights include Balcony House, Spruce Tree House, Cliff Palace and the Far View Sites.
