The Darley Street Market scheme was approved by the Council in July 2018, in order to remodel the city’s core shopping area by relocating its two existing city centre markets to Darley Street to secure the future vitality of this important area of the city centre.

Kirkgate Market Kirkgate shopping centre is one of the hubs of the city centre, with well know high-street brands and independent traders sitting side by side. Visit the indoor market to update your wardrobe, pamper yourself or grab a bite to eat with friends.

The new market will have three trading floors, two floors accessed at street level, and an underground basement for deliveries and waste recycling. Fresh produce will be sold on the upper ground floor and top floor will house an airy open plan food court which will trade into the evenings to support the local night-time economy.
