2008年4月27日 · During the late summer and fall the gag grouper will move within 12-15 miles (60 feet of water) of the coast. Reds and Scamps are usually in 100 feet or better (so about 30 - 40 miles out of Southport, assuming you jump the shoals). Snowy, yellow tails and others are in much deeper water.

Grouper are found mostly offshore on the reefs and wrecks in deeper water. Some species of grouper can be found inshore like the gag grouper and goliath grouper. Inshore, grouper can be found along deep water docks, mangrove-lined shorelines, near bridges and smaller fish can often be found on grass flats and shoals.

2009年9月14日 · I have a heard a lot of people being able to catch keeper grouper in relatively shallow water. I have not been able to do this and wondering what I am doing wrong. I try to find hard/rocky bottom but, always seem to pull up sharks. I have used a variety of baits with no luck. Any tips would be appreciated! BTW I go you of bogue inlet

2012年9月29日 · Those juvenile gag grouper show up inshore along the coast every year in late summer/early fall. They're beautiful, aggressive, fun to catch little buggers. They are definitely not a pain. They are the future and a sign that our coastal fishery is still a healthy environment.
