2020年11月22日 · The white of a charcoal pencis, oddly, is very cool. I think this is also works great for charcoal (or any chalk: conté, oil stick, graphite, pastel) drawing. I'm the only one I knew in class who drew with yellow, btw. It's not what I'd call "a thing." But it blends great with and into charcoal and is fairly erasable.

2023年12月20日 · The difference between graphite and charcoal is the inclusion of wax in graphite. The wax is the thing that makes the graphite cling to the paper. Charcoal doesn't have this and instead, depends on the toothyness/roughness of the paper to catch and hold the charcoal. Charcoal won't stick to smooth paper nearly as well.

2024年3月12日 · Got back into art last year, you know, sketching and poses, have been trying to learn as I go. I like graphite, but the thinking in pinpoint lines is just different. Charcoal seems to have alot of cool tricks, and it almost reminds me of painting because you can change the texure of the lines for lack of better words.

Punch in darker shadows with the charcoal, pull out lights with erasers: charcoal is your black paint, erasers are your white paint. If an area's getting too dark, wipe it back. 2016年5月19日 · Charcoal is best for gesture and quick drawing because it gives you coverage quickly and can be manipulated and blended easily without the shine of graphite. In my experience, it's a significantly different experience between drawing with charcoal and other similar mediums.
