Easton is located in eastern Massachusetts. The roughly trapezoidal-shaped town is bordered by Brockton and West Bridgewater to the east, Taunton and Raynham to the south, Norton to either side of its southwest corner, Mansfield to the west, and Sharon and Stoughton to the north.

The family arrived in Easton in the early 1800s, establishing a shovel factory that supplied the Union Army in the Civil War, and helped build the Union Pacific Railroad.

The first written history of Easton was Reverend William Chaffin's 1886 History of Easton. As well as searching out primary sources, Reverend Chaffin listened to stories that dated back to the founding of the town in the 1690's.
