6 天之前 · Get to know this 10.2-mile out-and-back trail near Idanha, Oregon. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 5 h 48 min to complete. This is a popular trail for backpacking, birding, and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are April through October.

This superb route leads along a creek through a lush old-growth forest carpeted with moss to Pamelia Lake, one of Oregon's premiere day-hike destinations, where you can enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding peaks. From the parking lot, head east to the Pamelia Lake Trailhead and proceed as the trail plunges into the deep forest.

Grizzly Peak overlooks Pamelia Lake from the Southwest. This 2.8 mile trail # 3428 (one-way from Pamelia Lake) gains about 1,900 feet to the summit and affords outstanding views of Mt Jefferson. Combining the two hikes makes a 10.2 mile round-trip adventure.

After 2.2 miles, you will reach the trail junction for Grizzly Peak to the right or Hunts Cove and the Pacific Crest Trail to the left. The trail climbs over 1,310 feet in the next 2.8 miles providing views of Mount Jefferson, Pamelia Lake, the Three Sisters and Three Fingered Jack.

From Detroit, Oregon, travel east on Highway 22 approximately 12.5 miles to Pamelia Creek Road (Forest Road 2246). Turn left onto Forest Road 2246, travel 5 miles to end of road. Trailhead parking is on the left. Parking: 20 vehicles

Stunning views of Mt Jefferson are offered from Grizzly Peak (5,799 ft), accessed by hte Grizzly Peak Trail #3428; the location of a historic fire lookout that has since been removed. Visitors should obtain a detailed map of the area before planning a trip, and inquire in advance about trail conditions, particularly early in the season.

2024年11月4日 · After 2.2 miles reach a junction. The trail to Grizzly Peak goes right and the trail upstream along Hunts Creek to Hunts Cove goes left. Head straight on a path that leads down to the northwest tip of Pamelia Lake. You'll find campsites in the trees on either side of this path.

Grizzly Peak is a nice day hike to reach up close views of Mt. Jefferson. Between it and the much bigger Jefferson lays Pamelia Lake and Hunts Creek which sit in a nice valley surrounded by ridges and peaks. Grizzly Peak has a good trail the whole way to the top, covering about 5.3 miles or so each way, with about 2700' of elevation gain.

The popular trail to Pamelia Lake has something for everyone: an easy creekside forest stroll for the novice hiker, a lake with a mountain reflection for the meditative, and an optional, strenuous viewpoint climb for the go-getters.
