Lillian Faderman (born July 18, 1940) is an American historian whose books on lesbian history and LGBT history have earned critical praise and awards. The New York Times named three of her books on its "Notable Books of the Year" list.

Lillian Faderman is an internationally known scholar of lesbian and LGBT history and literature, as well as ethnic history and literature. In 2024, the Washington Post Book World named THE GAY REVOLUTION to its list of “7 great political books.”

Her groundbreaking scholarship on lesbian studies has highlighted marginalized narratives, illuminated the intersections of lesbian history and feminism, and reshaped conversations around gender and sexuality in academia and beyond.
