The White River is a tributary of the Deschutes River, approximately 50 miles (80 km) long, in north-central Oregon in the United States. It drains a scenic mountainous area of the Columbia Plateau on the east side of the Cascade Range southeast of Mount Hood.

The White River lies east of the Cascade Range and south of the Columbia River Gorge. Originating on Mt. Hood, the river flows for approximately 53 miles to its confluence with the Deschutes River just above Sherar's Bridge.

Originating on the eastern slopes of Oregon’s Mt. Hood at the White River glacier, the White Wild and Scenic River flows some 47 miles through two wilderness areas before converging with the Deschutes Wild and Scenic River five miles north of river-centric Maupin, Oregon.

White River Falls State Park is a state park in north central Oregon. It is located 35 miles (56 km) by road south of The Dalles and 4.5 miles (7.2 km) east of Tygh Valley. The focus of the park is the falls where wild and scenic White River plunges 90 feet (27 m) from a basalt shelf.

The Lower White River rises in the high Cascades in western Wasco County, in the Mount Hood National Forest on the southeast side of Mount Hood. The headwaters are just below White River Glacier in White River Canyon.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife's Denman Wildlife Area has segments north and south of White City. The TouVelle State Recreation Site is located along Table Rock Road where it crosses the Rogue River.Furthermore, The Nature Conservancy's Agate Desert Preserve is on the west side of White City.

Located SE of Mt. Hood, White River heads on the mountain’s eastern slope and empties into the Deschutes River in Tygh Valley. Glacial melt in the warmer months sometimes turns White River milk-white in color. Volcanic landscapes add geologic interest to the river’s course.
