Beginning February 6, 2025, the Space Weather Prediction Center is presenting new coronagraph images from the GOES-19 Compact Coronagraph-1 (CCOR-1).

This product is designed to be a one page, simple look at recently observed and a three day forecast of space weather conditions. A brief description of why conditions occurred or are forecast is also included for each category.

Forecasting is the prediction of future events, based on analysis and modeling of the past and present conditions of the environment you are interested in. In Space Weather, persistence and recurrence of active regions on the sun over the 27-day solar rotational period play an important role in accurately forecasting the space environment.

Similar to the bulletins put out by the NWS local forecast offices, SWPC provides Alerts, Watches and Warnings to the public at large about what to expect from Space Weather. These bulletins are levels of severity of the solar activity that can be expected to impact the Earth’s environment.
