Pamelia is a town in Jefferson County, New York, United States. The population was 3,160 at the 2010 census, [3] up from 2,897 in 2000. The town was named for Pamelia Williams, wife of landowner and developer General Jacob J. Brown. Pamelia is in the north-central part of the county and is north of Watertown.

Named for the wife of Jacob Brown, hero of the War of 1812 and pioneer of the Town of Brownville, the Town of Pamelia was created 12 April 1819 from Brownville, though later a portion of the Town of Orleans was added to it. The name was briefly changed to Leander, but was soon returned to Pamelia.

Pamelia, a town in Jefferson County, is situated in northern New York State, USA. It lies just north of Watertown, near the eastern shore of Lake Ontario and is part of the Thousand Islands region. Located close to the Canadian border, Pamelia is also near Fort Drum military base.

The present Pamelia and all the rest of Jefferson Co. north of Black River was then embraced in the town of Leydon. In 1799 the south part of the territory, later called Pamelia, was owned by Pierre Chassanis, a French gentleman, being a portion of what has been known as Castorland, The Chassanis Tract or The French Company's Land.
