Richard Marvin DeVos Sr.[1] (March 4, 1926 – September 6, 2018) was an American billionaire businessman, co-founder of Amway with Jay Van Andel (company restructured as Alticor in 2000), and owner of the Orlando Magic basketball team.

He was 92. Family spokesman Nick Wasmiller says DeVos died at his western Michigan home due to complications from an infection.

DeVos summed up his philosophy of successful living in his first book, Believe!, published in 1975. His second book, Compassionate Capitalism, a treatise on how the wise use of financial resources can help others help themselves, was published in 1993.
