Trinity's first game of the new decade was on Saturday 2nd January 1960 when Hull came to Belle Vue. Trinity were in second place in the league table having just beaten Castleford 20—2 on Christmas Day and demolished Leeds, 39-5 at Headingley on Boxing Day and had only lost three of their twenty one league games so far.
