Apparently, the way you pronounce poinsettia and that other way are both technically acceptable. But, if we’re being honest, only one pronunciation should be considered correct. Known as the Christmas flower, poinsettias were named after Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Ambassador to Mexico (circa 1820). Poinsett was introduced to the plant on a visit to Taxco and liked them so much that he had a few sent to his greenhouse in South Carolina.📸 (Instagram): @mammothcavetransplants |
