Today, we celebrate Ella Baker who was born #OTD in 1903. Women were the backbone of the Civil Rights Movement, and Ella Baker was their north star, working hard to get Black Americans in small towns across the South active in the movement for freedom and equality. As Dr. Cornel West says, Ella Baker believed fiercely in democracy and in every person's right to seek justice. Ella Baker's legacy lives on through grassroots activists. Today and every day, we are inspired by her legacy.
