🏀🎂On March 23, 1955 the late Moses Malone was born in Petersburg, Virginia. Coming straight out of high school, he played in both the ABA and the NBA from 1974 through 1995. A center, he was named the NBA MVP 3 times, was a 12-time NBA All-Star and an 8-time All-NBA Team selection. Malone led the Philadelphia 76ers to an NBA championship in 1983, winning both the league and Finals MVP. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2001.

🏀On April 10, 1955 the Syracuse Nationals beat the Fort Wayne Pistons in game 7 of the NBA Finals when Syracuse's George King made a free throw with 12 seconds left to put the Nationals up 92–91. King then stole the ball from Fort Wayne's Andy Phillip with 3 seconds remaining to clinch the victory for Syracuse.
